Notice Of Church Administrative Council Discussion

Notice Of Church Administrative Council Discussion
The church’s Administrative Council met Tuesday evening (1-17-17) to inform the congregation that the Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee (SPPRC) has been in conversation with the Hutchinson District Superintendent, Dennis Livingston, concerning the possibility of Faith UMC entering into a two-point charge with a yet unnamed area church (two individual churches served by one pastor) effective July 1, 2017.
The motivation for this change is Faith’s improving, but still tenuous, financial status and the long-term viability of this church.  SPPRC members have strongly expressed to Dennis their interest in Rev. Alan Gager continuing to serve Faith UMC in the next appointment cycle (July 1), but, as we all know, in the United Methodist Church, all appointment decisions are the purview of the Bishop, Rueben Saenz, and his Cabinet, of which Dennis is a member.
Decisions concerning use of the parsonage after July 1st (either occupied by the pastor or rented out as an income source), worship schedule, and office hours for the pastor would be made only after the two-point charge decision is finalized.
Dennis Livingston will attend our previously scheduled January 24th Administrative Council meeting to answer any questions concerning this possible change.  He will be available from 6:30 to 7pm. after which time, other business of the church will be conducted.
I would ask that we be in prayer about this possible future for Faith UMC.
